Amy will share with us her own experiences as a job seeker and the career paths that she followed. She has made several career changes and will address the issues and challenges she faced during her transitions—and answer the question “How did I get here?”.
She will cover her experiences as a recruiter working for a third party firm and now as a Senior Corporate Recruiter for NiSource. Amy will also share a typical day in the life of a corporate recruiter and the positions she works.
Amy has presented several times to our networking group and is a very energetic, enthusiastic and inspirational speaker! Join us for a lively presentation full of advice, encouragement and guidance about different aspects of your search. Meet This Month’s Speaker
Amy Dennis
Amy Dennis was born in Buffalo, New York and came to Ohio to attend Kent State University. She graduated with a Bachelor’s Degree in Special Education K-12 and Elementary 1-8. Amy moved to Columbus, OH to work for Columbus City Schools as a special education teacher. In 2003, Amy graduated with her Master’s Degree in Educational Administration and Reading and Literacy from The Ohio State University.
The next 15 years, Amy moved into working with Juvenile Detention/Probation programs for At-Risk teens and was quickly promoted into Administration. She spent 4 years as an Assistant Principal, 4 years as a Principal and 2 years as Executive Director of Exceptional Students for Columbus City Schools.
In 2014, Amy changed careers! With a lot of rebranding, learning how to adapt to the business world, and learning new industries, she became a third party recruiter. She started at a start-up recruiting firm, Ability Professional Network, then moved to spend 3 years at CMax Advisors as Manager, Sales and Operations Recruiting. In October 2017, Amy was recruited to NiSource as a Senior Recruiting Partner. Throughout her career journey, the one common thread is always helping people be their best!
