The Transition Cafe of Central Ohio Meeting

October 25, 2017 @ 8:30 am - 11:30 am

$10 – $15

WHAT TO KNOW BEFORE YOU SIGN

Brigid will talk about four key agreements that workers need to understand before they sign on the proverbial dotted line:

1. Employment contracts,

2. Consulting contracts,

3. Non-compete agreements, and

4. Severance agreements

Brigid will discuss the concept of worker classification and the standard tests that apply to help you identify if you are being hired as an employee, if you are being engaged as an independent consultant, and why it matters.

When the relationship ends, it is vital to understand your ongoing rights and obligations. Brigid will discuss common misconceptions about the enforceability of non-compete agreements and what to look for in a severance agreement.

You will learn:

· Common and optional terms in the four key contracts.

· How to approach negotiations without jeopardizing the deal.

· Issues to consider before consulting an attorney.
